Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board was established on 1 April 2019 and is at the heart of the communities we serve, providing a wide range of integrated hospital and community based health care services to the populations of Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf.  We employ around 12,000 people and hold an annual budget of circa £1 billion.  We are by any measure a large, complex organisation and our services and facilities include the ground-breaking Keir Hardie University Health Park combining health and social care under one roof.  

Our new Executive Director of Workforce and Organisational Development will join an experienced Board team at a time when we have a unique opportunity to develop our new organisation with a culture, strategy and operating model that supports the needs of our population.  Engagement with our people, populations and partners will be critical to the organisational development of the Health Board and we are seeking an individual who will contribute to shaping a listening and learning organisation.  While we have previously had a good reputation for the services we provide, some significant failings have been recently identified in our maternity services and we are responding to the special measures that our regulators have placed on us as a result.  We are committed to learning from recent events more broadly, and to creating a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment of our people and population.

This role has a broad portfolio including workforce development, redesign and management, organisational development and clinical education.  You will also play a critical role in shaping our new Integrated Healthcare Strategy.  We are seeking an experienced board-level leader who will bring a passion and vision to our transformation journey with transferable people management and organisational development skills.  Excellent communication skills will be essential, you will quickly build credibility and confidence with staff, patients and our wider stakeholders.  Leading our programme of workforce transformation and redesign; you will engage stakeholders in the delivery of innovative solutions to our workforce challenges; supporting safe, sustainable and high quality services for the future.
